Frequently asked questions about the mortgage comparison

Where does the mortgage comparison data come from?

From the mortgage simulator of Chile’s Financial Market Commission (CMF), where each bank reports its terms. The comparison checks it automatically and stores each result for 24 hours.

What is the CAE and why does the ranking use it?

The CAE (carga anual equivalente, or annual equivalent cost) combines the interest rate, insurance and loan fees into a single percentage. That makes it better than the rate for finding the cheapest loan. It is the same order the CMF uses.

Are these the rates the bank will give me?

Not necessarily. They are standard reference rates, with no discounts for agreements or promotions. A bank may offer you a different rate depending on your income, down payment and credit history. Use them as a starting point and get written quotes.

What kind of loan does it compare?

A non-transferable, UF-denominated, fixed-rate mortgage, the most common type in Chile. The monthly payment includes life and fire insurance.

Why do some banks show “data over 6 months old”?

Each bank updates its information at the CMF whenever it wants. If the data is old, its actual offer today may differ: confirm it directly with the bank.

How do I compare quotes I already have?

Enter them in our mortgage payment calculator, which compares up to 4 offers side by side. You can also check the ranking of the best mortgage loans in November 2026.
